Product Management Survey - Analysis and Report

Earlier this summer, the 280 Group and Quantum Whisper teamed-up to complete an extensive product management survey. First and foremost, we were delighted with the community response and the approximately 800 participants --- THANK YOU! As for next year, we hope to build on this year's edition by integrating your feedback.

The product management survey results are available in two formats:

  1. On-line: Featuring the entire survey, the online version is immediately available for viewing and includes a comment area (ideally suited for questions and community discussion).
  2. PDF: A downloadable PDF is available for those that prefer a local copy.

Below are just some of the highlights:

  • 78% of product managers work weekends (average 6 hours)
  • The average product manager is responsible for 3.3 products
  • 33% of respondents indicated they will not offer software-as-a-service (SaaS)
  • 38% practice agile development (e.g., SCRUM)
  • 4.5 is the number of average product releases per year
  • Only 22% of those that use product management software "love it".
  • Only 6% of respondents rate the quality of their "market evidence" as "excellent".
